MEET THE INSTRUCTORS

Born December 15, 1981, and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Max Michel discovered his passion for competitive shooting at an early age after his father introduced him to Practical Shooting. By his early teens, he had shattered junior shooting records nationwide, earning the attention of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU). In 1999, Michel joined the USAMU’s Action Pistol Team, beginning a 10-year Army career that culminated in his role as a Military Coach. As a Staff Sergeant, he developed advanced training programs that strengthened both competitive excellence and combat readiness for soldiers serving in the Global War on Terrorism.

Today, Max Michel is regarded as one of the most dominant and accomplished shooters in the world. Renowned for his elite training methods and instructional ability, he is a Guinness World Record holder, an IPSC World Champion, and a 13-time USPSA National Champion. Michel holds multiple world speed shooting records and is the first shooter to win all eight USPSA Area Championships in a single season. As an international competitor, he has represented the United States at eight IPSC World Shoots, returning home each time with a team gold medal.

Doug Koenig is a once-in-a-generation talent, widely regarded as one of the greatest all-around shooters in the world. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, he began competing at age 17 and quickly developed a passion for the sport after his first match in 1986. While working as a carpenter alongside his father, who supported his ambitions, Koenig dedicated himself to refining his skills. In 1990, he committed to shooting as a full-time career—a decision that paid immediate dividends when he captured his first major championship at the Bianchi Cup with an unprecedented score, firmly establishing himself on the world stage.

With nearly three decades of professional experience, Koenig’s record of championships across disciplines such as the Bianchi Cup and Steel Challenge is both extensive and unmatched. Known for his exceptional blend of speed, accuracy, and discipline, he credits his success to relentless preparation and a strong work ethic that carries over into both competition and hunting. Koenig also shares his passion for the outdoor lifestyle through his television series, Doug Koenig’s Championship Season, which combines high-intensity shooting competition with adventurous hunts in remote locations, offering viewers a front-row seat to his relentless pursuit of excellence.

Born on April 16, 1980, in Cebu City, Philippines, Simon “JJ” Racaza discovered shooting at an early age, beginning with an air rifle before being introduced to pistol shooting by his father, a competitive marksman. His natural talent was immediately apparent, and with focused training and discipline, JJ quickly rose through the junior ranks. By age 11, he was consistently placing among the top competitors overall, and by 13, he had firmly established himself as one of the most promising and dominant shooters in the Philippine competitive shooting scene.

Today, JJ Racaza is recognized worldwide as an elite competition shooter, accomplished trainer, and former federal law enforcement officer. He is a three-time world speed shooting champion, a multiple world record holder, and a USPSA Triple Grand Master. JJ has represented the United States at multiple World Shooting Championships, earning team gold medals and individual world titles, including a #1 world ranking in Production Optics. Known for his innovative approach to fundamentals and movement, JJ refined his skills through relentless study and practice, later applying that expertise as a Lead Firearms Instructor and academy trainer during his service with the Department of Homeland Security.

"Every shooter will go home with a toolkit full of knowledge making them a better marksman, and chances are good they’ll go home with a new gun"

Attendees will receive individual instruction from a team of world champion professional instructors including Max Michel, JJ Racaza, and Doug Koenig. The VIP treatment showcases a welcome bag loaded with over $1,000 in gear, gun giveaways, special guest appearances, and professional photography by Blue Diamond Photography during the weekend.

“Most shooters just train at what they’re good at because they can see their positive results and have fun at the same time,” says Michel. “But we provide a focused system that encompasses important fundamentals as well as the advanced battlefield proven skills required to advance your shooting finesse. Together with myself, JJ Racaza and Doug Koenig, shooters spend a weekend at the range immersed in both instructional and fun activities. Shooting culminates with the Pro Shooter Challenge. At this private match, attendees shoot 6 courses of fire implementing the techniques they learned while competing against the three coaching pros.”
